Work Is Worship

So I have my computer cranking out those DVD-Rs as fast as it's little drive may go, while simultaneously having myself "clean house" once again.

I feel that cleaning the house is such a waste of time. I mean, it's such a never-ending task that wastes so much productive time.

I make very few messes. It's those blasted aminals!

Don't get me wrong, I love my aminals. They can't help the fact that they shed all over the place. I just wish they were a little more neater in how they went about eating and stuff.

I get angry when people come to my house, mess everything up (especially when they start using something and then don't put it away when they're done), and then leave. My brother has done that so much that my dad gave him a stern talking to about visiting other peoples' houses.

anyway, about upkeep wasting time: You could do so many other things if you weren't bound to keeping something artificially "clean". Upkeeping is inefficient, but it's necessary. If upkeep can be reduced, people would have more time to do whatever they want (to a point).

Now, you can never eliminate upkeep, and everything has at least some small upkeep requirement. Books need to be kept in a dry place/dusted off occasionally, clothes need to be washed, floors cleaned. If a person has no upkeep, then they don't have anything!

Upkeep is a consequence of acquiring things. The more you have, the more you're weighted down. It cannot be avoided if one wants to participate in today's society, so minimizing necessary upkeep while maximizing wants would be a good target to aim for.

Do I need this 5 bedroom house all to (practically) myself? 2 rooms go unused at this house. Rooms that I have to keep looking pretty every now and again. Rooms that make the rent go up. That's inefficiency.

Same with computers. Computer file databasing takes so much time, especially when I want to create a backup. And then, when I reformat, I have to take those backups (DVDs) and put them back on the computer, and so I have to wait around while the files are copied. VERY inefficient. (My solution is that I have a second drive that's read only (except when overridden)that has all my media in one place. Then, I can reformat the first drive to my heart's content and keep the second drive independent. I could also move the drive around)

I've watched other people's strategy of maintaining upkeep, and I've noticed that they anticipate and handle the problem as it arises, rather than dealing with it later. This is a good strategy! I mean, a mess usually creates other messes (in a weird sort of way). For example, you wouldn't ignore a problem under the hood of your car if you knew about it, would you? Let's say the water pump broke. Now you have a problem. What if you don't fix it? your engine will get really hot, oil will start burning, pistons will weld, the block will warp. Now your problems have complicated.

Same thing with taking care of your body.

If you keep your body in good shape, it's not easy to manage. If you don't take care of your body very much, you'll spend more time than those who do taking care of it in the long run.

I like to spend my time the way I want to spend it. Having fun! I try to create smart methods to managing things so I don't have to manage them.

Anyway, I have to go to work now. I was going to say that me and my friend were messing around with fourier transformations, (using a quick and dirty made custom built program) and that was a lot of fun. YEAH!

Winter’s cold spring erases
And the calm away by the storm is chasing
